You have the opportunity to experience something truly exceptional: a sea voyage aboard a historic traditional vessel, from whose deck you can witness an impressive 5/6 solar eclipse. As the Moon covers a large part of the Sun, the light around you will change. The sea provides a unique setting for the experience — and the traditional vessel is sure to make the journey atmospheric. A solar eclipse is best experienced in a place where your gaze can reach far into the distance.
The solar eclipse begins in Oulu at 7:52 p.m., reaches its maximum at around 8:45 p.m., and ends at 9:36 p.m. The Sun sets at 9:51 p.m., so the eclipse takes place beautifully in the evening just before sunset. M/s Oulu departs from the harbour at 7:30 p.m., and passengers should be on board no later than 7:15 p.m. The vessel is expected to return to Toppila harbour around ten o’clock.
Please note that participants must bring their own protective glasses intended for viewing a solar eclipse, or other appropriate solar protection. A solar eclipse must not be viewed with the naked eye at any stage.
